Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain

A drawing class for beginners, based on Dr. Betty Edwards "Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain" is designed to develop solid drawing skills which include the perception of lines, spaces, light and shadow, angles and proportions as well as enhancing creativity and building artistic confidence.
The instructor, Marva Johnson, completed her work under the guidance of Dr. Edwards at California State College, Long Beach in 1974 and has taught drawing to adults and children for many years using right brain training techniques.
Cost: $200 includes "The New Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain" by Betty Edwards.
Advance Reservation must be accompanied by a non-refundable deposit of $100 and be received by May 10, 2007. Class size limited so you receive lots of individual attention. Full fee required after May 10.
Class Schedule:
Thursday through Saturday 9:00 am to 5:00 pm with lunch break and time to work on your own to complete exercises.

Background:
Marva Johnson, a resident of Hamilton, studied art at Pasadena City College and Cal State Long Beach in California with Dr. Betty Edwards. She has also studied with such renowned artists as
Nancy Glazier and Jan Dunz.
Johnson worked as Art Director for a private school for many years as well as teaching Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain for Adult Education Programs.
Marva's favorite medium is oil but she also enjoys working in watercolor, pastel and pencil. Her preferred subjects are portraits of animals and people, florals and still life. Specialties include portraits of wildlife on river rocks, wildlife and flowers on gourds and murals.
Marva and her husband Lee own Mountain View Art & Framing & Antiques in Stevenwsville where her work is featured. She has appeared in numerous art shows in Montana and California and was a featured artist for Monrovia, California's Centennial celebration. Marva is a member of SASS.
