Sculpting the Horse from the Inside Out
Instructed by Len McCann

Len McCann

July 14 - July 18, 2007

This workshop guides the artist through:

  • Choosing tools and materials;

  • Finding good reference material;

  • Design of the sculpture using the armature and skeleton.

The armature is the foundation upon which the proportions and muscle groups are constructed to convey the anatomy and action of the horse.

Special attention is given to the head and its features, the limbs and feet, and surface treatment for a finished art work.

This popular class is being offered again during Art in the Bitterroot July Workshops. It is especially aimed at the beginner but has material to challenge the more experienced artist too.

Cost: $500 + $100 required materials (includes 40 hours instruction and all materials to produce a finished clay sculpture.)

Advance Reservation: A deposit of $100 + $100 materials fee must be received by May 16, 2008. You will be billed for the remainder on June 16.

Full fee required after May 16.

Cut-off date for registration: June 16 is the cut-off date for registration for this class. The class requires advance purchase of materials and hand crafting of special modeling tools by the teacher.

Class Schedule:
